Gold Insider: A new homeowner’s perspective – The Mallard, Quiet Waters

The new homeowners of one of our Mallard house types at Quiet Waters were kind enough to tell us about their journey with Gold Property and what it is like to purchase and own a new build property.

The Mallard house type at Quiet Waters, Angmering, is a superbly presented three-bed terraced home with a designer kitchen, bathroom and en-suite along with beautiful outdoor space.

1.     What made you choose the Quiet Waters Development?

We decided after 2020 lockdowns it was time to take action and become homeowners and with the stamp duty holiday and a little government support, we decided to take our moment. We looked at lots of different estates with different companies and made lots of comparisons but hadn’t decided. Quiet Waters Close was one of the last places we went to see, and we just knew straight away that this development was the one. Our estate agent didn’t need to do a huge amount of selling to us as there was so much, we liked that the development sold itself. We like the fact that it was a smaller development and well considered and planned. The area had lots of amenities as well as a calm place with countryside nearby.

2.     What do you like best about living at Quiet Waters?

So far, we have really enjoyed living in Quiet Waters because we have met lots of neighbours moving in around us and found some like-minded people with a real community spirit mentality. We absolutely love our garden space outdoors and also the fact the house has three floors. We like having a driveway to park our car in with space for visitors.

3.     Has your experience with Gold Property Developments been positive?

We have had a really positive experience with Gold Property Developments. We are really pleased to have purchased our home from a smaller, family developers, as we feel that this is evident in the care put in and quality of the home. From the very beginning we had great communication, with both people in site and in the office. We felt that any queries were answered and not dismissed and that we were valued customers.

4.     Are you first time buyers, downsizers or upsizers?

We are first time buyers and absolutely thrilled to now be on the property ladder and homeowners. It has always been our dream. We have to pinch ourselves that we have such a beautiful home, and feel very lucky.

5.     Where did you move from?

We moved from rented accommodation in Brighton. We were right on the seafront and by all the shops bars and restaurants. We wondered if we would miss all the hustle and bustle and we haven’t one bit, we just love it here so much. Our flat before was a basement flat with no garden or outside space, very little natural daylight coming in, and also damp. When I feel pregnant near the start of lockdown, we new it was time to leave!

6.     What do you do for work, just a little about you as a family, hobbies?

I (Jo) am a teacher and year leader and Ed is a transport planner. Ed currently works from home and we have a spare room and office space as the room is such a good size. I am on maternity leave and so we have both enjoyed spending lots of time nesting and organising the house the way we wanted it. Albert is 3 months old, and we are doing lots of fun classes including swimming lessons. In our spare time we like country walks, beach days, bbq and socialising with friends. Of course, we are thrilled to see the pubs re open too and there are a few lovely local ones.

7.     What is your favourite feature of the new home?

Our favourite feature is the bi fold doors that create one big space between our lovely garden and open plan downstairs living. We now have lots of space for our cat Mr Darcy to play.

8.     Would you recommend buying a Gold Property to a friend?

We would definitely recommend Gold Property developments to a friend

9.     Do you think there are any benefits to buying a new build home over a secondhand home

Initially when we talked years ago about saving to buy a house, we dismissed the idea of a new build as we thought it would not have character or soul and we have completely reversed our opinion on this now. Our house feels very homely, and it felt like this very early on. With a new baby we are thrilled there is no maintenance or work to be done. I thought the beautiful paintwork of duck egg blue was just for the show home so was so pleasantly surprised when we arrived to see our house the same.

10.  Were the environmentally friendly features such as Car charging points, solar panels and LED lighting a benefit to you?

The eco features were a real added bonus for us and we are especially pleased with the solar panels and extra energy savings we will make.
